High-Speed spindle bearings in X-life quality: New levels of design freedom for machine tool manufacturers

Schaeffler will be presenting an entire range of new high-speed spindle bearings in X-life quality at the EMO 2017. These FAG spindle bearings allow machine tool manufacturers to further increase the performance of their motor spindles in terms of mechanical and thermal load carrying capacity and thus offer their customers a boost in both productivity and competitiveness.

Robust spindle drives with innovative Vacrodur rolling bearing material

Vacrodur is an innovative rolling bearing material developed by Schaeffler that allows machine tool manufacturers to significantly increase their spindles’ load carrying capacity and greatly extend their operating life even under extremely difficult conditions. The machine tool manufacturing sector thus benefits from lower unit costs, longer machine running times, and increased availability.

Innovations for high-precision rotary tables and rotary axes

Requirement-based relubrication is the way to prevent unplanned machine tool downtimes

Defective rolling bearings and linear guidance systems are statistically one of the most frequent causes of machine tool downtimes. Insufficient lubrication or contamination, and in isolated cases even mounting errors are frequently responsible for unplanned linear guidance system failures before the end of the systems’ expected operating life is reached. Requirement-based relubrication for rolling element recirculation guidance systems now allows these unplanned machine downtimes to be drastically reduced and the availability of machine tools to be significantly increased.

Schaeffler integrates sensor technology into its spindle bearings

At the EMO 2017, Schaeffler will be presenting a revolutionary system for maximizing the OEE (overall equipment efficiency) of machine tools – a newly developed range of sensors for main spindle monitoring that are integrated into the spindle bearings themselves. For the first time ever, machine manufacturers can now offer their customers a highly effective and easy-to-use instrument for increasing machine availability, productivity, and quality. Using this system will reduce the frequency of spindle failures while simultaneously extending the operating life of the spindles.

Condition analyses and predictions for machine tool components

With a new multi-channel condition monitoring system (CMS) specifically for machine tools, Schaeffler pursues two objectives: Firstly, condition monitoring and condition predictions for various key components in machine tools using a single CMS, and secondly, the flexible integration of sensors from different manufacturers into the CMS.

Linear recirculating ball bearing and guideway assemblies INA KUSE X-life: Load ratings increased by up to 44% and rating life extended approximately threefold

Schaeffler’s INA linear technology proves with its newly-developed, six-row linear recirculating ball bearing and guideway assembly (KUSE) that significant development advances are possible even for well-established products. KUSE X-life assemblies are highly accurate and run extremely quietly, so that they can even be used in measuring machines.
