In the past, Schaeffler therefore regularly strengthened its position by acquiring medium-sized companies in this sector.
Against this backdrop, our team provided support in a post-merger integration (PMI). At the closing of the transaction, the acquired company was legally a part of the Schaeffler Group, but it continued acting independently in the market.
Our goal was to achieve the required level of integration according to schedule – while taking the organizational resources into account. This resulted in a range of challenges for the PMI.
It was essential to ensure the continuation of business operations in parallel with the integration activities – despite the structure of a medium-sized company and the limited management capacities of the acquired company. It was also important to retain and to continue to promote the potential and success factors of the smaller partner company after its integration into the Schaeffler Group.
Our team was commissioned with the task of supporting the PMI process. For this purpose, we developed a suitable project structure and implemented it in an efficient manner. We moderated and orchestrated the outstanding integration activities after the closing of the transaction.
We supported the specialist departments involved with the processing of the outstanding tasks. In this way, we ensured that the partner company was integrated into the Schaeffler Group successfully and within manageable boundaries in close collaboration with the project managers and workstreams.

We took the available resources and priorities on both sides into account. We ensured that progress was made towards integration by continuously tracking work packages and milestones.
In addition, we supported managers with targeted communication and by acting as an intermediary between the various stakeholders. We also assisted the team of the acquired company by providing specialist support in the processing of work packages.
