Jürgen Ziegler (b. 1959) began his career with a commercial vocational training at Daimler-Benz AG and subsequently studied business administration at the AKAD University in Rendsburg alongside his work. From 1980 to 1995, he worked at the Mercedes-Benz production plant in Sindelfingen in sales, logistics, project management, and financial controlling.
His first foreign assignment was in 1995, when he was posted to work for the newly founded Mercedes-Benz joint venture located in India. During this time, he has held managing functions first in finance and later in sales. In 2000, he assumed the position of Managing Director, which included overall responsibility for the Indian subcontinent. In 2002, he transferred to DaimlerChrysler Corporate Strategy in Stuttgart, where the focal topics of his work as director included strategic planning and post-merger integration projects. Three years later, he took over the complex restructuring of the Beijing Jeep Corporation joint venture in China. He subsequently joined the Group’s commercial vehicle division and was in charge of Mercedes-Benz’s truck and bus business as CEO in Turkey from 2005 to 2009. Thereafter, in his function as President and CEO of the Latin America region based in Brazil, he was responsible for Daimler’s entire business portfolio from 2010 to 2013.
Mr. Ziegler joined the Stuttgart-based consulting firm CONCEPT AG in 2014 where, in his role as Executive Board Member, he took on mandates for OEMs in the automotive and supplier industry, particularly on an international scale.
Mr. Ziegler has been working for the Schaeffler Group since 2015 and held the position of President of the South America subregion until late 2016, during which time he successfully headed the perennial process of restructuring the South America business. As part of Schaeffler’s strategic program, he took over responsibility for the “Program CORE” and “Global Footprint” strategic initiatives from January 2017 onwards and was based in Germany.
Effective from August 2017, Mr. Ziegler will assume the position of Regional CEO Europe. He will continue to head the “Global Footprint” initiative, which is of central importance for the further development of the Schaeffler Group throughout Europe.
