Trade Show Highlights
An important highlight of the trade show was the visit by Dr. Ramsauer, Federal Minister of Transport, Building, and Urban Development, as part of the opening tour. Mr. Schullan, President of Schaeffler Group Industrial, and Ms. Purbs, Director of Railway Sector Management, showed him a range products including the axlebox bearing for Russia's Sapsan high-speed trains and also products from the mechatronics sector.

Further information

Numerous journalists took up our invitation to find out about the product exhibits on display and about general topics from the Schaeffler Group's Railway Sector Management during the press breakfast. We would like to express our sincere thanks for the interest they showed.

The numerous open discussions with our customers about our products and about both new and current projects are worthy of special mention.

The following focal points emerged during these discussions:
Mechatronic Functions in Axlebox Bearings for Freight and Passenger Traffic
Schaeffler is systematically expanding its proven range of mechanical components to create mechatronic modules that deliver significant additional benefits for the operators of rail vehicles in freight and passenger traffic. FAG's TSS-F wheelset generator is capable of providing an energy supply for freight wagons, and FAG's TSS-P bogie monitoring system is equipped with sensors for condition monitoring.

Extreme Requirements for Axlebox Bearings
Schaeffler is rising to the challenge presented by the demand of the market for axlebox bearings and housings that are suitable for use in extremely harsh environmental conditions. The results include housings suitable for use at temperatures as low as -50 °C and bearing solutions with special seals that allow the rail vehicle to drive through water, for example.

Further information

We will also be present at the InnoTrans trade show in 2014. Before that, however, we look forward to many exciting projects in the Railway Sector's wide variety of areas. Schaeffler is both focused on and prepared for the future - and our business in the Railway Sector plays an important role in this.
