UniAir is the world’s first electro-hydraulic system for fully-variable control of intake valves per cylinder and according to requirements in gasoline and diesel engines. This means the engine is always operated at optimal efficiency. UniAir reduces fuel consumption by up to 10 %, increases power by 10 % and torque by up to 15 % in the lower speed range – and these improvements are achieved while complying with the requirements of emission standards Euro 5 and 6.

Schaeffler Group has had a strong start to 2011, reaching record levels of sales, EBIT and net income for the first quarter. Schaeffler Group sales increased 25 percent to approximately €2.7 billion. Both divisions were able to benefit from increased customer demand. Automotive division sales increased 22 percent to €1,822 million (Q1 2010: €1,491 million), while the Industrial division was able to grow its sales by 33 percent to €855 million (Q1 2010: €641 million). Schaeffler Group EBIT for the first quarter of 2011 was €472 million, increasing 41 percent from the first quarter of 2010.

Schaeffler Group set new records in sales and operating results in 2010. In the Automotive division sales increased 34 percent to €6,341 million (2009: €4,743 million), while sales in the Industrial division rose 20 percent to €3,012 million (2009: €2,513 million). EBIT of Schaeffler Group increased to €1,509 million, resulting in an EBIT margin of 15.9 percent.
