Under its brand INA, the Schaeffler Group develops and produces rolling bearings, plain bearings and linear systems for the industrial sector and as an automotive supplier precision components for engines, transmissions and drive trains worldwide. INA products have been known for creative application solutions as well as a high level of engineering and manufacturing expertise for many decades. The traditional FAG brand that is over 100 years old has been part of the Schaeffler Group since 2001. It is known worldwide for a wide range of standard and precision rolling bearings for the automotive industry, machine building and aviation and aerospace. The brands INA and FAG that are marketed in Germany by Schaeffler KG are present in all the major industrialized countries with around 60 production locations. Schaeffler KG is the largest company in the Schaeffler Group that is present with its brands INA, FAG and LuK at 180 locations in around 50 countries worldwide.

EU Commission Approves Takeover of Continental by Schaeffler – Schaeffler/Continental merger will create a leading global automotive supplier
The EU Commission has granted its approval of the takeover of Continental AG, Hanover/Germany, by the Schaeffler Group. The Schaeffler Group will now conclude the takeover without delay. Schaeffler will pay 75.00 euros per share to the depositary banks of those shareholders who have tendered their shares to Schaeffler, on or around January 8, 2009. The depositary banks will then credit these payments to the shareholders’ accounts.

Rolling Bearings in Marine Drives
When the Celebrity Solstice will put to sea for her maiden voyage at the end of 2008, she will also have highly sophisticated bearing technology from Schaeffler Group Industrial aboard. Equipped with one radial spherical roller bearing and two spherical thrust roller bearings from FAG, the drives will make it possible to accelerate the ship to a speed of 24 knots (45 km/h) and to perform safe steering and precise decelerating maneuvers.

Top-Laser SMARTY2 is an economical measuring device for the alignment of belt pulleys and chain sprockets. The robust, handy Top-Laser TRUMMY2 is an optical-electronic instrument for measuring and setting optimum belt tension (strand force). The FAG-Top-Laser INLINE is a PC-based system for aligning coupled shafts which can be used to significantly increase the availability of machinery. Any vertical misalignment detected by the FAG-Top-Laser can be elim inated using FAG-Top-Laser SHIM.

Axlebox Bearings in the Velaro RUS for Russia
In 2006, the Russian state-owned railway company, RZD, placed an order for 8 high-speed trains with Siemens Transportation Systems. Schaeffler Group Industrial is supplying the axlebox bearings with swing-arm housings for all Velaro RUS vehicles.
